Sow – February 1

Zinnia – Profusion

Notes from the previous sowings…

Profusion zinnias seem to do funky things with color and I wish my camera did better close-ups.. sorry about the blur, but these shots were taken back in 2011! I gathered a bunch of seeds and still have them. Maybe I will toss them in the garden in 2020!

Profusion zinnias get to be 2+ ft. tall and are a joy to have in any garden. They also grow nice in a hanging basket with a little maintenance and they are beautiful when you mix a few colors up in the same container. I have planted them in containers and some even made it to almost 4ft tall!

We began cutting the heads
We dropped the heads into a washtub
The stems would be heading to the compost so we loaded them up to head out the door
The washtub full of heads

  1. 10-26-21 – we had a storm that flattened the zinnias, and then on 10-27-21, we cut all the stems so we could deadhead the flowers off our zinnias and on 10-28-21 we deadheaded them. We hope the heads will yield our seed for next years planting so we may offer fresh cut flowers.
